Being in the moment of an immediate crisis or needing support for yourself, family member or friend can feel overwhelming. Provided below is a starting point for an array of mental health needs. In the event of a true emergency where the safety of yourself or others is in question, calling 9-1-1 is appropriate and can serve to safe a life.

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline has just recently designated 9-8-8 as the new three digit routing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. This resource is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They also have a website: Lifeline (988lifeline.org).

If you’re in need of mental health support, here are a list of national and local resources for you to use. This list can serve as a guide to your search, keeping in mind that it’s not all-inclusive and you’ll want to find the resources that work the best for you.

The Recovery Village:

The Recovery Village provides web resources about addiction and mental health issues. The 2017 National Survey on Drug Use and Health reports that 18.7 million people age 18 or older had a substance use disorder in the United States. Furthermore, people who identify as gay or lesbian are more than twice as likely than those who identify as heterosexual to have a sever alcohol or tobacco use disorder (Healthline.com).
